Anastasia Veprev, Vepreva

Anastasia Veprev is an artist and writer from Leipzig, Germany.

Born in Arkhangelsk in 1989, she worked in Saint Petersburg before being forced to leave Russia and settle in Germany. Her practice engages with speculative and fictional approaches in Memory Studies and critical understanding of new technologies.

Along with personal exhibitions, she has participated in Steirischer Herbst, The 2nd GARAGE Triennial of Russian contemporary art, Stuttgarter Filmwinter, PLURIVERSALE III, IV The Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Manifesta 10, 35th Moscow International film festival.

Recipient of the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award (2020) and Short-list nomination for the DАR Prize (2025). Winner of Garage Museum Grant for artists (2019-2020).

Organizer and co-curator of the Suoja / Shelter festival in Helsinki, Finland.

Her texts have appeared in Moscow Art Magazine, Art Leaks Gazette, Dialog of Arts, independent portals Colta.ru, Aroundart.org. Editor of the KRAPIVA portal.

Holds a double MA degree from Smolny College, SPBU, St. Petersburg and Bard College, NY, USA. Holds a Specialist’s degree in history. Studied Media Art at HGB Leipzig.
